Aptly named, this large, drifting whirlpool is the bane of a sailor’s existence around the port town of Miranda. So named for the first ship that navigated the whirlpool (but not so successful the second time). Legend has it that this is where water elementals go to die and so add to the permanent whirlpool that sucks down ships to a watery grave. The dark and evil water spirits that linger nearby, feeding on dead sailors, keep all but the hardiest (craziest) captains away. Few will risk saving a few days journey by heading this route and risking the unpredictable Velgar’s Swallows, and prefer to go north around Port Rawthorn.
